Constantin Krahmer Close Up is a rather quiet album with nine compositions tailormade for an uncommon, chamber musical line-up with strings, piano, drums and without bass. It was nominated for the long list 2/2022 of the "Preis der Schallplattenkritik" in the category "Grenzgänge".

About the album:

Lightness, here and now. Maybe only here. And later now. "Close Up" is a sensitively narrated album by pianist Constantin Krahmer. Every single piece has a strong narrative character, which can be characterized by quiet and clear melodies and intense, mostly quiet, improvisations. Anyway, the details and the spaces between the sounds come into focus. Rather wave-like currents, than energetic charges. The movement of the music creates a direct pull and never puts itself on display, it contemplates and takes you into a very own cosmos. This music is reminiscent of the art of Andy Goldsworthy: structures that partially form and disintegrate on the ground, developing independently. "What if", for example, draws a picture of such a structure, as it could also be found in the Land Art artist Andy Goldsworthy. Art which is oriented to rivers and tides. The music of "Close up" takes this time, which nature also needs. The pieces, however, never remain just quiet and intent on inwardness, on the contrary, they seem at times explosive and full of the force of nature, powerful and searching, getting lost and yet very clear.
